                                     SCIENCE FEST : - 2018

 

Science is not only about laws and theories but also about explanations experiments and explorations. To promote the importance of science among school students, a science fest, ‘The Relativity Fest’ was organised by the Science Club of La Martiniere for Boys, Kolkata on the 30th of November, 2018. A total of 11 children from our school participated in this Science Fest under the able guidance of Ms. Aditi Dhar, Headmistress of Junior School and other science teachers of our school. A total of 23 schools participated in this science fest.

The program started off with an opening ceremony organised by the host school followed by various inter-school events. Ali Abbas Khan (class 6), Sagnik Pramanik (class 7) and Jay Prakash Rathi (class 8) who participated in ‘ Pass the baton’, an event that challenged an individual’s mathematical skills did us proud by securing the first position. Dhruv Ghosh (class 8) and Goutam Pareek (class 8) participated in the Science Quizand made it to the finals by knocking out several other participants in the preliminary rounds. They missed the 3rd position by a whisker. Shristi Mundra (class 8) and Shubhechchha Mukherjee (class 7) demonstrated the working of a fire alarm in the ‘Science Fair’.

The events for the Senior School included ‘Logic-thlon’ and ‘Practical conversions’. The first event was based on logical and analytical skills and Rishita Biswas and Srimoyee Ghoshal (class 11 – Science) were the participants from our school. Shruti Pal and Astha Prasad (class 12 – Science) took part in ‘Practical Conversions’,an event that tested a student’s knowledge on practical chemistry.

The day ended with a closing ceremony where prizes were given out to the winners and certificates were given out to the participants.
