Vision International School aims at the holistic development of each and every child. In course of this journey, each and every child gets plenty of opportunities to appreciate his or her culture through various school activities. One such event in the school calendar is the celebration of Mahalaya.
On the 1st of October, our school celebrated the arrival of Mahisasuramardini in the morning assembly. The program began with a reference to the gradual evolution of the Barowari durgapuja (Puja for and by the common people) where everyone was allowed to participate in the celebration indiscriminately irrespectively of their caste, creed and social status. This was followed by the Durga Vandana ‘Jaya jaya devi.’ The excellent rendition of the song by the school choir evoked a feeling of awe and respect for Maa Durga. Next in line was a dance recited by the senior girls of our school that depicted various forms of Durga, ranging from that of a compassionate mother to the omnipotent Mahisasuramardini. The rendition of a vedic hymn by Subhagata Chowdhury created an ambience of peace and serenity.
The entire program was excellently anchored jointly by Arko De and Shounak Sinha. The program finally ended with the traditional ‘dhunuchi naach’ to the rhythmic beats of the dhaak.
