In keeping with the aim of empowering pupils with good oratory skills the Inter-house English Elocution Competition was held in Vision International School on the 14th of May. The competition took place in two phases. The competition for classes 3 to 6 was conducted in the new building and was judged by our Principal, Ms Anushree Singh. The competition for classes 7 to 10 was held in the Shivalaya Hall. The event was judged by Ms Jayati Debnath and Ma’am Chattopadhyay, Mentor of English Department of VIS.

The participants of classes 9 & 10 were given prescribed themes for the competition. The theme for Class 9 was “Humorous Poems / Excerpts” and for Class 10 the theme was “Dramatic Monologues.” The participants of other classes displayed their oratory skills by reciting some very interesting poetic verses composed by renowned poets.

Some noteworthy performances were given by Ali Akbar Khan of Class 7, Swastika Majumdar of Class 8, Shubrajeet Bhatttacharya of Class 9 and Sagnik Roy of Class 10, all of them bagging the first prize for their respective classes. With much wonder and pride, Srijani Pal of Class 3 (Sigma House), Adrija Das of Class 4 (Sigma House), Nikita De of Class 5 (Kappa House) and Abhinandan Nandi of Class 6 (Gamma House) bagged the first position for their respective classes.

All the winners were congratulated by the Principal and Ma’am Chattopadhyay for creating a brilliant ambience by doing justice to the poems through their appropriate pronunciation, intonation and expression.
